Description

Solar imaging without proper Hα is not exactly my passion, well, I haven't got a solar scope anyway, but I wanted to see whether clouds during daytime are as nasty as at night. They are!

The purpose of this excursion was for trying the ASI462MC with an IR742 pass band filter on a Ø71mm/450mm F6.3 APO and a DIY filter with a Baader solar sheet. The NIR sensitivity of the camera is high to the extend that the exposure time was merely 0.167ms at gain 0. The image is a stack of 200 'best' frames converted to 8-bit grayscale, no drizzling.

The solar surface has been featureless for a couple of years, so why not today too. The insets are excerpts from NASA's SDO/HDMI intensitygram.
